As we move into the holiday season, I find myself thinking about how fast this year has gone and how much the world has changed in such a short time. Not everyone observes the US Thanksgiving holiday, and that is completely fine. Gratitude does not need a specific date or tradition. It is a moment of awareness, a pause, a recognition of the people who help shape the world with you.
To everyone building with us: developers, contributors, researchers, students, enterprises, and curious explorers, thank you. You have taken this idea of autonomous, interoperable agents and turned it into something real and useful. You have shown that technology grows not just through code, but through community.
The AI Shifts of 2025
This has been a year of rapid acceleration. New capabilities emerged almost monthly, and each one pushed us to rethink what intelligence in software means.

The year ahead will be defined by the fundamentals of real agent infrastructure. Agents are no longer just intelligent functions. They are distributed systems, and distributed systems need the same guarantees we expect from any core runtime. Our focus is on the painful, universal problems that every organization faces once they try to scale beyond a demo: swapping vector databases without rewrites, switching LLMs safely, migrating infrastructure without chaos, and enforcing zero trust across every component.
In 2026, our priorities build directly on those realities:
• Portability so you can swap technologies without rebuilding. Swap Pinecone for pgvector in one line. Swap LLMs without refactoring. Run workloads on laptops, cars, clusters, and at the edge.
• Observability that treats every component like a first-class citizen. Full telemetry. Every input and output explicit. Debugging that feels as natural as working with browser devtools.
• Security at the component level. True zero trust. LLMs that never see raw data unless explicitly allowed. Access control as a subsystem, not an afterthought.
These are not features. They are infrastructure. And infrastructure is what ensures that agents remain predictable, portable, inspectable, and safe as they become the fabric of modern software.
Our belief remains the same: humans should focus on meaningful, creative work, and agents should handle everything that strains our time, attention, and energy. Building that future requires principled engineering and a community committed to getting the foundations right.
